Modern Warfare 3 was the best-selling game in the US in January, while PS5 was once again the leading console platform.
Activision’s latest Call of Duty game topped the software chart ahead of new releasesTekken 8,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueand Persona 3 Reload, while Madden NFL 24 rounded off the top five.
Other new entries to make the top 20 chart includedLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealthat No.7,Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownat No.13, and Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash at No.19, according to research firm Circana.
The Last of Us Part 2charted at No.9, up from No.167 in December, following the release of the game’sPS5remaster.
Circana doesn’t track sales fromPalworldpublisher Pocketpair, so sales of the game weren’t included in its monthly update.
On the hardware front, PS5 continuedits strong performance in 2023by again topping monthly sales in both units and dollars.
After 39 months of availability, PS5 life-to-date unit sales are now tracking 7% ahead ofPS4during the same time in market, and 68% ahead ofPS3, according to Circana executive director Mat Piscatella.
