Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 topped the US software sales chart in October, while PS5 led monthly hardware sales.
According to data published on Monday by theNPD Group,Activision’s shooter is already the second best-selling game of 2022 behindElden Ring, and the third best-selling of the previous 12 months behindFrom Software’s RPG andCall of Duty Vanguard.

That’s based on just two days of sales, with NPD’s October tracking period covering October 2-29, which ended one day afterModern Warfare2 was released on October 28.
Modern Warfare 2 is thefastest-selling entry in the long-running series, according to publisher Activision, and will reportedlyovertake lifetime sales of last year’s series entry, Call of Duty Vanguard, this week in Europe.

In the US, NPD analystMat Piscatellasaid eight of the top 20 best-selling premium games of October 2022 were new releases.
Gotham Knightsdebuted at No.2 on the monthly chart and as the 14th best-selling game year-to-date.

Other new entries included NHL 23 at No.5,Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hopeat No.6,Bayonetta 3at No.9, Star Ocean: The Divine Force at No.14, Dragon Ball: The Breakers at No.16, and PGA Tour2K23 at No.17.
