Mojang has announced plans to drop PlayStation VR support for Minecraft in early 2025.

PlayStationVR support was added to thePS4version of the game via a free update in September 2020.

“Our ability to support PlayStation VR has come to an end, and will no longer be supported in updates after March of 2025,”Mojangsaid.

“After you receive the final update, you will still receive updates on your PlayStation and be able to play without PlayStation VR.

Mojang is currently developing a native version of Minecraft forPS5.

It launched the first preview of the PS5 version in June, allowing owners of the PS4 version to test it and provide feedback ahead of its launch forSony’s current-gen console.

The studio hasn’t announced a launch window for the PS5 version, or any plans to support PlayStation VR2.

Mojangsaidlast week that it’s planning to release more regular content drops for Minecraft going forward.

“We know that you want new Minecraft content more often, which is why we’re changing our feature development rhythm,” it said.

“Instead of providing one free update during the summer, as we’ve done in the past, we’ll now be releasing a number of free game drops throughout the year.

“These game drops will vary in size and will bring you features to explore more frequently.”
