Microsoft has officially announced its latest Xbox controller colour.
Confirming a previous leak, the Astral Purple wireless controller is available to pre-order now for $64.99 / £54.99 ahead of its launch on September 19.
The controller can connect toXbox Series X/SandXbox Oneconsoles,PC, mobile phones and tablets via Bluetooth andXboxWireless.
Microsofthas already released at least seven new Xbox controller designs in 2023.
In February it revealed and released the blue-purpleStellar Shift controller, followed by theVelocity Green controllerin March.
March also saw the release ofred and blue editions of the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.
In May it released a Sunkissed Vibes controller with a peach and pastel blue theme, then in June it released thelimited edition Starfield controller.
And last month in launched theStormcloud Vapor Xbox Series X/S controller.
Xbox bossPhil Spencerrecently said that Microsoft iscommitted to releasing the same games for both Xbox Series X and S consoles, and that he doesn’t see a future where the entry-level system has to miss out on some titles due to technical limitations.
He also saidthe price of current-gen consoles won’t come down over timein the same way as other systems have in past generations, and that he thinks a mid-gen refresh would create “a ton of complexity for creators and players”.
