Electronic Arts has said that Mass Effect Legendary Edition sales far exceeded its pre-release forecasts.

BioWarereleased the well-receivedMass Effect Legendary Edition,a three-game remaster collection, in May 2021.

“The launch of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the remaster of the first three Mass Effect games, reignited the passion of fans around the world, driving sales performance well above our expectations,”EACEOAndrew Wilsonsaid during the publisher’s first quarter earnings call on Wednesday.

“Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Ordercoming to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5was also a moment for new and returning players to jump into that amazing game,” he continued.

“We are going to continue to invest in both of these franchises as well as more of our amazing IP.”

BioWare firstrevealed it was working on a brand-new Mass Effectgame in November 2020 with the release of a teaser trailer.

“We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next,” it said at the time.

In December, BioWare revealed that a number of Mass Effect trilogy veterans hadreturned to work on the next entry in the series.
