The first Mario Golf: Super Rush Nintendo Switch review has been published in Japanese magazine Famitsu.
As detailed byNintendo Everything, the publication’s four reviewers gave the sports title a combined score of 33 out of 40 (8, 8, 8, 9).
Famitsu’s reviewers praised Super Rush’s new Speed Golf mode, which has players racing between holes and using power-ups, as well as the single-player Golf Adventure mode.

“Speed Golf is an amazing mode that turns the golf concept on its head. Seeing balls you and your opponent hit fly through the air duking it out feels like a brand-new sport,” one reviewer wrote.
“Golf Adventure is also a great way to experience first-hand the different rules and tricks the game has to offer,” they added. “Elements like the power gauge are very easy to grasp which make standard golf feel comfy.”
Another reviewer said of the game’s controls: “Judging the strength and timing of shots with a single gauge and then executing with the press of one button is a big plus, as was the ability to hit a ball by swinging a Joy-Con.”
“On top of standard golf rules, being able to maneuver the ball after you hit it was a unique addition, and while playing with a timer in mind is a different kind of challenge to regular golf, it’s still a great time.”
Super Rush is set to release on June 25.
The new game will feature optional motion controls, online multiplayer modes such as Speed Golf, and a full Story Mode which has players controlling their Mii character as they compete in golf challenges and earn experience points to power-up stats.
The game represents the first Mario Golf instalment since 2014’s World Tour forNintendo 3DS. It’s been even longer since the series’ previous home console instalment, Toadstool Tour, which released forGameCubein 2003.
