Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding is now available for Xbox Series X|S in a surprise release.
The developer announced theXboxversion in a social media post on Thursday, and confirmed that it will be available at a 50% discount for a limited time, which means it costs $19.99 in the US, and £17.49 in the UK.

The announcement was made as the clock ticked to midnight in Japan, marking exactly five years sinceDeath Strandingwas first released forPlayStation 4, which could suggest that an exclusivity agreement expired.
According to the game’sXbox.compage, Death Stranding includes support for Xbox Achievements, cloud saves, Play Anywhere, as well as the Director’s Cut features such as Photo Mode, Ultra-Wide Monitor support and more.

Sonypublished Death Stranding for PS4 in November 2019 and 505 released it forPCin July 2020. The Director’s Cut hit PS5 in 2021 andwas released for PC in early 2022.
A sequel,Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, is currently in development exclusively forPlayStation 5. However, creatorHideo Kojimahas strengthened his ties with Xbox withthe announcement of new game OD.

“I really like to challenge new things,” Kojima said atThe Game Awardsin December. “With help of Xbox Game Studios and using their Cloud Gaming technology, I’m doing this together. It is a game, don’t get me wrong. At the same time it’s a movie at the same time it’s a new form of media.”

Death Stranding 2 was announced in December 2022 witha reveal trailer at The Game Awards. A reveal trailer confirmed that Norman Reedus will be returning, as well as Léa Seydoux, who played the character Fragile in the first game.Troy Bakerwill also star.
Kojima Productionsthen announced last year that it has teamed up with A24 to bringa live-action film adaptation of Death Strandingto the big screen.
