Martyn Ware of the band Heaven 17 has claimed that his band were offered just $7,500 to include their song in the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto 6.
In a post on X, Ware claimed that Heaven 17’s publishers were contacted by Rockstar to include the song Temptation on the game’s soundtrack.
“I was recently contacted by my publishers on behalf ofRockstar Gamesre the possibility of using Temptation on the newGrand Theft Auto 6,” wrote Ware.
“Naturally excited about the immense wealth that was about to head my way, I scrolled to the bottom of the email re the offer…
“IT WAS $7500 – for a buyout of any future royalties from the game – forever… To put this in context, Grand Theft Auto 6 grossed, wait for it… $8.6 BILLION Ah, but think of the exposure… Go fuck yourself.”

GTA 6 has not yet been released, and thus has grossed nothing, but it’s likely Ware was referring to the wider Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Grand Theft Auto soundtracks are often sprawling, multi-genre tracklists that populate the game’s in-game radio stations.GTA 5licensed over 240 songs for its soundtrack, though originally Rockstar wanted to license over 900, before it was deemed excessive.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released forPlayStation 5andXbox Series X/Sin 2025.
