The PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 is getting a free update on March 4, which will add the enhancements previously exclusively available on PS5 and Xbox Series, including improved graphics, new features, and the GTA+ subscription service.
All players who currently ownGTA 5onPCwill be able to upgrade to this new version for free,Rockstarannounced on Thursday.
The new technical improvements include ray tracing features only available on PC (such as ambient occlusion and global illumination); support for AMD FSR1, FSR3, andNVIDIADLSS 3; faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage; enhanced support for higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher framerates; DualSense controller support; and enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos.
Rockstar says PC players will also have access to a suite of “much-requested” GTA Online features, including a range of new vehicles and upgrades at Hao’s Special Works (HSW), a Career Progress feature, and a refreshed Landing Page. Players can also now engage in the Ambient Animals side quest, which seesAmbient Animals pop up all across Southern San Andreas.
Finally, for the first time on PC, players will be able to purchase GTA+ — GTA Online’s premium Membership service, which offers benefits such as GTA$500,000 every month (delivered upon billing) and Member-only Shark Cards with 15% bonus GTA$.
Earlier this month, Rockstar’s parent companyTake-Twoclaimed thatGrand Theft Auto 6 is still on track to release later this year. During an investor presentation discussing its Q3 earnings for the financial year 2025, the publisher confirmed that the game was still listed as “launching Fall of Calendar 2025”.
Last monthBloombergclaimed that rival gamepublishers are waiting as long as possibleto commit to their release dates for next Fall, because of GTA 6’s planned release.
They want to see if GTA 6 will make its deadline or be delayed until 2026, with the goal being to put significant distance between the release of their own games and Rockstar’s, it’s claimed.
