Recently announced tactical shooter Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available on the Epic Games store and not Steam, publisher Ubisoft has toldPCGamesN.
Breakpoint will also be released onUbisoft’s own Uplay digital distribution platform, as is the norm for its games.
The same release strategy was adopted for fellow Ubisoft gamesThe Division 2and Anno 1880, which launched on Uplay and theEpic Games storeearlier this year.
In January,Epicannounced it would be partnering with Ubisoft on “additional select titles” to be announced throughout the year.
Epic has adopted a strategy of aggressively signing exclusive game releases for its platform, such asMetro ExodusandBorderlands 3, in some cases resulting in already announced titles being removed fromValve‘s rival store.
Ghost Recon Breakpointwas announced on Thursday and continues the open-world approach introduced in 2017’s Wildlands.
Either solo or in four-player co-op, players explore the fictional, private island of Auroa. The island, which is described as “advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature”, is the base of operations for drone technology giant Skell.
When rogue spec ops forces known as ‘The Wolves’ take control of Auroa, the Ghost Recon team is sent in behind enemy lines.
Compared to Wildlands, Breakpoint includes “a lot, lot more” content for those playing solo, including more cut-scenes and dialogue options,its developer told VGC.
