Ghost of Tsushima recorded the best launch week sales of any first-party PlayStation 4 game in Japan to date.
It sold 221,915 copies in its first week, comfortably surpassing the record previously held byDeath Stranding,Famitsureports.
According toGame Data Library, a site which collates Famitsu sales data, Death Stranding sold 185,909 copies in its launch week, ahead ofGran TurismoSport (139,357),Marvel’s Spider-Man(132,520), andDays Gone(114,319).
Ghost of Tsushimaalso comfortably outsold last week’s other major release, Paper Mario Origami King forSwitch, which moved 100,909 copies.

Sucker Punch’s open-world title is only the third Western-developed game to receive a perfect 40/40 score from Japan’s Famitsu magazine (the others wereGrand Theft Auto Vand Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim).
