From Software boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has said the studio’s not ruling out making Elden Ring 2 or a second expansion for the blockbuster game.
It was announced on Wednesday thatElden Ring’s first expansion,Shadow of the Erdtree, will be released in June.
At the same time, publisherBandai Namcoclaimed that the award-winning game has now shipped 23 million copies since its release in February 2022.
Miyazaki, the director behindDemon’s Souls,Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring, was recently asked byIGNif there’s more story to tell beyond the latter’s upcoming expansion.
“We don’t want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now,” he replied. “I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn’t want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. And it’s a similar story with Elden Ring. We don’t want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future.
“We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something in the future.”

Shadow of the Erdtree will introduce a new story, a fresh world to explore and deeper RPG features,according to Bandai Namco.
Players will require the base game to play the expansion, which is now available to pre-order in several editions, with prices starting at $39.99 / £34.99.
