Epic has detailed the next-gen version of Fortnite, which will be available to download when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launch next week.

The game will run at 4K and 60 FPS onPS5andXbox Series X, and at 1080p and 60 FPS onXboxSeries S. Split Screen now supports 60 FPS on all next-gen platforms.

On PS5 and Xbox Series X,Epicsays enhanced visuals and physics will result in “grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid (cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects), and all-new storm and cloud effects”.

Loading performance has been “significantly upgraded” on all next-gen platforms, improving texture loading and enabling players to get into games more quickly. The game also supportsPS5’s Activities feature, letting players jump straight into the Battle Royale lobby from the console’s home screen.

The PS5 version has general DualSense vibration support and haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons too.

Cross-play remains available on all platforms, and progression and cosmetics carry over to the next-gen versions.

Fortnite is getting its own unique Nintendo Switch hardware

Xbox Series X/S launch globallyon November 10. ThePlayStation 5 release dateis November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, with the rest of the world getting the console on November 19.

Fortnite is currently built with Unreal Engine 4 butit will be migrated to UE5 in mid-2021.
