Epic Games has announced plans to introduce a skill-based matchmaking system for Fortnite battle royale’s core modes.
It will be introduced in game update v10.40 in a bid to create a more even playing field.
“You will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents,” the studio said in ablog post.
“We will slowly roll this out to all regions across Battle Royale core modes as we test and monitor how it performs.”
Acknowledging that that the game had been weighted too heavily in favour of more skilled players,Epicintroduced powerful mech suits toFortnite with season X in August.
Mechs were designed to give casual players a better shot at victory, it said at the time, adding: “The mission ofFortniteis to bring players of all skill levels together to have a fun experience where anyone can win.”
Epic also plans to add bots to Fortnite’s non-competitive playlists starting in season 11.
“They will behave similarly to normal players and will help provide a better path for players to grow in skill,” it explained.
“Bots will work in conjunction with the new matchmaking system, and as your skill improves, you’ll face fewer Bots.”
Epic is running a Fortnite Batman crossover eventuntil October 6, in celebration of the Caped Crusader’s 80th anniversary.
TheEpic Games store is also giving away six free Batman gamesin the form of the Batman Arkham Collection and the Lego Batman Trilogy.
This weekEpic reportedly released free Batman Arkham Collection DLCtoo, after the trilogy was initially made available to users without any add-on packs included.
