Spanish football team Real Betis has announced the signing of its latest player with a video inspired by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
The video stars the club’s Argentinian striker Aitor Ruibal as he takes on a mission to deliver a shirt to new signing (and fellow countryman) Germán Pezzella.
It opens with Ruibal saying “oh boy, here we go again” – a more family-friendly version of a famous GTA meme – before he awkwardly jogs and jumps like aPS2era character.
He then gets on a scooter and makes his way to the club’s stadium.

When he gets there, Ruibal proceeds to the pitchside (after struggling to get through a door) and meets his teammate, fellow Argentinian Guido Rodriguez.
The pair then present new signing Pezzella with his Real Betis shirt, as a ‘Mission Passed’ message is shown.
Although the video has been earning praise on social media for its authentic recreation of the Grand Theft Auto HUD and map, others are pointing out that Real Betis isn’t the first club to do this parody.

The video was made to celebrate defender Piotr Tomasik extending his contract with the club, and is arguably even more faithful than Real Betis’s video.
In it, Tomasik is seen entering the club shop and choosing a new outfit in the style of GTA’s clothes shop interface.
He then signs his contract extension, poses for a photo and carjacks an official team vehicle on the way out of the stadium.
