Square Enix and Tencent are reportedly planning a mobile version of hit MMO Final Fantasy XIV.

That’s according toExputer, which claims that the mobile port is the result of a strategic alliance between the two companies, originally announced back in 2018.

So far, no project has been announced between the pair. However, earlier this year, it was claimed thatTencent cancelled an unannounced mobile game based on Square Enix’s Nier series.

High development costs, royalty fees and platform fees contributed to the decision to axe the project, according toReuters.

Last week, Final Fantasy 14 directorNaoki Yoshidaapologized for early access issuesplaguingFinal Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail expansion.

Problems included theXboxversion becoming unresponsive when transitioning between areas, issues with several ultimate abilities, and some animation issues.
