A Japanese Final Fantasy 7 Remake concert ended with no major announcements on Saturday, despite some translations suggesting that news related to the game would be shared.
FF7R co-directorMotomu Toriyamahad appeared in a video published on aSquare EnixTwitter account earlier this week, in which he was quoted as saying that there would be“a few things about FF7R” revealedduring the pay-per-view online concert.

However, the event ended on Saturday with no such news having been shared, despite expectation having built to the point where the concert was briefly trending on Twitter.
According to Final Fantasy fanAitai Kimochi, who covered the event on her Twitter page, Japanese fans had also been asking in the event’s live chat where the expected announcement was. At one point, the concert appeared to troll fans awaiting a major announcement with a segment based on a news broadcast.

Because ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s one-year exclusivity deal withPlayStation, some fans are expecting Square Enix to potentially announce versions of the game for other platforms soon.
This intermission “breaking news” segment with the words FF7 REMAKE NEWS……only to be followed by “Let’s talk about FF7R concert goods😁” is the biggest troll move ever LOL#FF7ROCpic.twitter.com/25na81Dfjm

In November 2019, Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s other co-directorTetsuya Nomuraconfirmed that work onFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2was already underway.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s other co-director Tetsuya Nomura has previously suggested thatfuture instalments in the episodic title could focus on smaller sectionsof the original game, in order to release them faster.
The comments come from the Japanese Ultimania book, in which Nomura is quoted as saying that “if we divide the story into large parts, it’ll take longer to make. If we divide it into more detailed smaller sections, then developing it will be faster. I hope to release the next one ASAP.”

Also speaking in the Ultimania book, producerYoshinori Kitasereportedly said that the FF7R team has “a general idea” of how the game’s story will play out across each episode, following a cliffhanger ending to the first game.
“We have a general idea of how the story will play out, but we haven’t decided exactly [how many parts], nor can we confirm anything,” Kitase is reported as saying. “There’s speculation that it will be three parts, but we’re just doing things one step at a time.”
