Square Enix has released a new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer, which is viewable below.

The trailer, which premiered duringSummer Game Fest‘s live kick-off show on Thursday, sees Cloud, Aerith and the rest of the party from the end ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeexploring the walls beyond Midgar.

It includes several combat encounters and full CG cutscenes, and closes by confirming that thePS5game will be released in “early 2024” on two discs.

Unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was released forPS4in 2020 before making its way to PS5 andPCthe following year,Rebirth won’t be available for Sony’s last-gen console.

The second entry in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy wasannounced in June 2022. At the time, producerYoshinori Kitasesaid Rebirth would be “released next winter”, meaning in late 2023 or early 2024.

In aFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth updatelast week, Kitase said: “Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan, We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game.”

Square Enixalso said players won’t need to have experienced Final Fantasy 7 Remake in order to enjoy Rebirth.

“We have made preparations so that players who did not get a chance to play the first game can fully enjoyFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” co-directorMotomu Toriyamasaid.
