Final Fantasy 16 has shipped and digitally sold 3 million copies in less than a week of availability, according to publisher Square Enix.
The figure means FF16 is roughly in line withFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s launch, which managed around 3.5 million copies in ten days. However, that was onPlayStation 4which had a far larger installed base than PS5 does now.

The last numbered instalment, Final Fantasy 15, remains the fastest-selling entry with 5 million units shipped and sold digitally back in November 2016. However, this was across multiple platforms.
Final Fantasy 16was released as aPlayStation 5exclusive last week, on June 22.

In VGC’sFinal Fantasy 16 review, critic Jordan Middler called the action RPG, “an incredible action game with blockbuster visuals and music, but there’s a very real sense that it’s missing some of the series’ RPG identity at its core.”
