A new video has revealed a cut side quest in Elden Ring which would have seen players collecting the dreams of enemies.

As discovered by YouTuber Lance McDonald, a removed gameplay mechanic known as ‘Dream Mist’ would allow players to capture the dreams of sleeping enemies and use them as part of a quest.

Elden Ring’s cut ‘enemy dream collecting’ has been discovered

It’s unclear why the mechanic was removed, especially because many NPCs have dialogue that takes this quest into account.

The drink in question, “Dream Brew” would be acquired by using an item called St. Trina’s Crystal Ball. The description of this item reads, “Copies dream mist from a sleeping being”.

Elden Ring’s publisher wants to work with author Brandon Sanderson and he ‘has a Soulsborne pitch’

McDonald notes that several beasts that were present in the Network Test version of the game, such as a sleeping wolf, have been completely removed from the final build of the game.

While sleeping animals are present inElden Ring, they operate under a different set of mechanics, as they are able to be alerted to the player if they are too loud, or attack them. The sleeping beasts that Lance uncovered in the Closed Network Test couldn’t be wakened.

As the player progresses through the quest, the number of Dream Mist required in order to brew the potion increases, and the game features extensive dialogue for this.

McDonald also claimed that the quest giver also was “set to have a sprawling quest” but doesn’t elaborate on the specifics of that quest.

Lance McDonald was also the first to discover a hidden colosseum in Elden Ring which many suggest may point towardsfuture competitive DLC.
