Familiar faces took the top two spots on the European software sales chart in May.
EA Sports FC 24charted at No.1, followed byGrand Theft Auto 5and F1 2024.

WhileEA’s racing game was the highest new entry on the chart, its launch sales were down 35% compared to last year’s F1 game.
That’s according to GSD data published byGamesIndustry.biz, which covers physical game sales from major markets and digital sales from most leading publishers, excludingNintendoand505 Games.

Total software sales in May were down almost 17% compared to a year earlier, while console unit sales declined 40% year-over-year.
Some of these declines can be explained by last year’s blockbuster release ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sold more copies in May 2023 than the entire top 10 managed last month.

The game’s release was also accompanied by the launch of a popular Zelda edition of theSwitchOLED.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cutcharted at No.4 last month following the release of thePCversion.

AndPaper Mario: The Thousand Year Doordebuted at No.5, a feat achieved based on physical sales alone given Nintendo doesn’t share digital data.
