EA has officially confirmed the new features coming to FIFA 23 when the game is released on June 16, 2025.
For the first time in the series,FIFA 23will feature women’s club teams, with two leagues available at launch – the Barclays Women’s Super League in England, and Division 1 Arkema in France.
Both World Cup competitions will also feature in the game, with the men’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 coming as free post-launch updates.

Cross-play will also be introduced for every 1v1 mode in the game, including FIFA Ultimate Team, Online Seasons and Online Friendlies. This will be generation-specific, meaningPS5,Xbox Series X/SandPCplayers can play together, as canPS4andXbox Oneplayers.
EAsaid the HyperMotion animation system introduced in last year’s FIFA has been improved and it is now being dubbed HyperMotion2, with “over 600 authentic animations taken from millions of frames of advanced match capture”.
On the pitch, EA has promised a “new risk versus reward shooting mechanic” and a revamp of the way free kicks, penalties and corners are taken.
The new shooting mechanic lets players make more powerful shots that require more time to pull off, similar to the ‘Stunning Shot’ mechanic ineFootball.
Meanwhile, Ultimate Team mode will feature a redesigned chemistry system and a new mode called FUT Moments, which EA said is “scenario-based”.

FIFA 23 will be the last EA game to sport the FIFA name before the licence expires and EA and FIFA go their separate ways.
In May, EA said it will begin “a new era in July 2023” with the introduction of theEA Sports FC series.
On the same day as EA’s announcement, FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated thatFIFA would launch a rival game.
In a strongly worded statement, Infantino insisted that only games carrying its official license would be credible to fans of football.
