DICE won’t get the chance to make Star Wars Battlefront 3 as parent company Electronic Arts plans to lean more heavily on its in-house IP going forward.

That’s according to a newVentureBeatreport, which claimsEAhas no intention of making moreStar Wars gamesfollowinga trio of Respawn projects announced on Tuesday.

These include aStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Ordersequel, a Star Wars FPS being helmed by former LucasArts veteran and Medal of Honor co-creator Peter Hirschmann, and a strategy game co-produced with Bit Reactor, a new studio formed by veterans of XCOM and Civilization studio Firaxis.

Going forward, EA is reportedly planning to reduce its licensing fees and rely more heavily on its own IP such as Battlefield,Dead Space, Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

JournalistTom Henderson, who has a strong track record with EA reporting, also claimed in November that plans for a third Battlefront game fromDICEwererejected by EA due to the costs of using the Star Wars license.

Lucasfilm confirmed last January that a Star Wars exclusivity deal with EA was set to end bypartnering with Ubisoft on a new open-world game, although EA responded by stating that its long-standing collaboration with Lucasfilm Games would “continue for years to come”.

BioWareis also gearing up to launcha new Star Wars: The Old Republic expansionin February to mark the 10th anniversary of the MMO, whileStar Wars Squadronsdeveloper and fellow EA studioMotivemay also be working ona new Star Wars action game.
