DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson has apologised to Battlefield V players for the issues that have arisen during the shooter’s most recent season of content.
The studio recently acknowledged that the launch ofBattlefield V Chapter 4: Defying the Oddsintroduced “some issues to the overall quality of the experience” including stuttering.
It also announced it wascancelling plans to release a competitive 5v5 modein order to focus on bug fixes and adding more sought after content to the game.
Further addressing the issues on Twitter,DICEGM Gabrielsonsaid: “BF community – I know you are frustrated and disappointed with the experience across Chapter 4 forBattlefield V. I’m really sorry.
“We’re taking a step back to improve the quality of BFV, and as a result, making needed changes to our roadmap.
“We’re shifting out some content from Chapter 4, and we’re stepping back from our 5v5 mode, to focus the team on our core Battlefield experience.
“This was not an easy decision, but the right one to get the game to quality,” he added.
“I hope the work we’ve put into Battlefront II is a testament to our long-term commitment to our games and our communities. We’ll get Battlefield V back on track and make it the awesome game you all deserve.”
DICE released Battlefield V game update 4.4 forPCand consoles on Tuesday, featuring “general stability improvements and crash fixes” plus “fixes designed to reduce instances of stuttering”.
Theupdatealso introduces two new infantry maps and raises Battlefield V’s maximum rank from 50 to 500.
Battlefield V’s Chapter 5 Pacific War updatewill introduce three new maps, including a modern take on Iwo Jima, and at least seven fresh weapons and gadgets before the end of the year.
Ahead of Chapter 5, DICE will release the Operation Underground multiplayer map, which is inspired by Battlefield 3’s Operation Métro.
Update:DICE has released a new trailer forBattlefield V’s Operation Underground map, which will launch on October 3.
It will alsoreveal Battlefield V Chapter 5: War in the Pacific on October 23.
