Nintendo has announced a release date for the Detective Pikachu sequel.
The game, which will be calledDetective Pikachu Returns, will be released on October 6.

The game has barely been discussed sinceThe Pokémon Company announced itback in May 2019.
However, it’s now set to arrive onSwitchlater this year.
“Discover the origin of the great detective Pikachu,”Nintendo‘s official description reads.
“Partner with the tough-talking, coffee-loving Pikachu, who calls himself a great detective, to unravel multiple mysteries across Ryme City.

“With the help of many otherPokémon, Tim Goodman and his talkative Pikachu partner work together to solve a series of mysterious incidents in this cinematic adventure game.”
The last fans heard of Detective Pikachu’s status was in September 2022, when it was spotted that the LinkedIn profile of a senior game programmer at Creatures Inc stated that he has been working on “one unannounced project andone nearing release, Detective Pikachu 2”.

The first Detective Pikachu game was released on the 3DS in 2018, and was an adventure game spin-off of the Pokémon series that focused more on plot.
Players controlled a boy called Tim Goodman as he met and teamed up with a talking Pikachu to solve various mysteries.

A live-action movie version of Detective Pikachu was released the following year, to a positive critical reception. Earlier this year it was said thata sequel is moving closer to reality.
