Electronic Arts has officially announced that it is working on a Dead Space remake.

The teaser trailer below rounded off the publisher’sEAPlay Live showcase on Thursday.

It confirmed that the game is in development atStar Wars Squadronsstudio EAMotiveforPS5,Xbox Series X/SandPC.

EA said: “Dead Spaceis being developed exclusively for next generation consoles and PC, raising the level of horror and immersion to unprecedented heights for the franchise through stunning visuals, audio and controls powered by the Frostbite game engine.

Speaking toIGN, Dead Space remake senior producer Phil Ducharme hinted that the game could incorporate elements of later Dead Space titles, such as the sequel’s zero gravity sections.

“We’re also learning from mistakes such as microtransactions, which we will not have, for instance, in our game,” he added.

It’s claimed that EA warmed to the idea of producing another single-player game after the recent success ofRespawn’sStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

In June, EA said the game had been“played” by over 20 million peopleacross all consoles, platforms and subscription services.

The Dead Space series launched in 2008 and has not seen a new instalment since 2013’s Dead Space 3. The franchise’s original developer, Visceral Games, was closed by EA in 2017.

A number offormer Dead Space developers are currently working onThe Callisto Protocol,a survival horror game set in the PUBG universe. It’s the debut title fromStriking Distance, a studio led by former Visceral general managerGlen Schofield.
