Dead Island 2 surpassed one million sales in its first weekend of availability, according to publisher Deep Silver.
Almost a decade after it was first revealed,Dead Island 2was released on Friday forPS5,PS4,Xbox Series X/S,Xbox OneandPCvia theEpic Games Store.

And in a press release on Monday,Deep Silverclaimed the game reached the one million sales milestone within three days.
It said players had logged 11 million hours of playtime, died 28 million times, and slayed over 1.1 billion zombies since the title’s release.

First announced in 2014, the zombie action RPG suffered a series of delays and changes of developer during a turbulent production cycle.
It was originally in the works at Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager before development duties were taken over bySumo Digital. Dambuster, an internal Deep Silver studio, then took over development in 2019.
