DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have held talks with Warner studios like Rocksteady and NetherRealm about new DC video games.
Last January, DC revealed its latest attempt at creating a connected media universe, this time including video games that feature the same canon, storylines, and actors from the film, television and animation worlds.

And it provided an update on thecompany’s plans in the gaming spaceduring a recent DC Studios event attended byComicBook.
Safran said he and Gunn are working “incredibly closely” with JB Perrette, Warner’s CEO of global streaming and games.

“It’s really the first time it’s ever been this way atWarner Bros.James and I sit with the guys that run the studios under JB whether it’sNetherRealmorRocksteady. We sit with them and we talk about characters and stories that we’re interested in and that they’re interested in.”
“We see designs for the projects in their very earliest stages,” added Gunn. “We talk about those, we talk about what the story might be and we’ll say ‘Well, you maybe you want to go this way because we’re planning on maybe doing something with this character.’”

Gunn said that the first DCU game won’t arrive for “a couple years” yet.
“Yeah, it’s a couple years but we’ve had some pretty active involvement in some stuff coming up that’s really interesting,” Safran added.

It was recently claimed thatRocksteady is working on a single-player Batman game, although it’s unclear if this will be a new entry in the Arkham series or a DCU game, andBloomberg’s sources said the title is years away from release.
Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game, which was announced in 2021, is also said to be years away from landingafter reportedly being rebooted in 2024.
