Days Gone was the 20th best-selling game of May 2021 in the US, according to market research firm the NPD Group.
TheBend Studiodeveloped game jumped from No.247 on April’s chart to No.20 following itsPC release via Steam on May 18.
Bloomberg claimed in April thatBend had a Days Gone 2 pitch rejected by Sonyfollowing a disappointing critical reception to the original game.
PlayStationStudios boss Herman Hulst has since said thatBend is working on “a very exciting new IPthat they’re very, very passionate about,” adding: “They’re building on the deep open-world systems that they developed withDays Gone.”

UPDATE:Piscatella subsequently confirmed thatMass Effect Legendary Editionhad been left off the monthly software sales chart first released by theNPD Group.EA‘s game actually charted at No.2 in May, pushing Days Gone down one place to No.21.

Nintendo’s system has now been the best-selling console in the US for a record 30 consecutive months based on units sold.
Total consumer spending on video game hardware, content and accessories last month was up three percent year-over-year to $4.5 billion, with year-to-date spending up 17 percent to $24 billion.
