CD Projekt Red has decided to make Cyberpunk 2077 “100% first person”, it’s said.

The developer told VGC in a statement that it believes the sci-fi RPG will benefit greatly from the decision to focus on a first-person view, both in terms of gameplay and storytelling.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be ‘100% first-person’ apart from ‘some’ cut-scenes

However, players will still be able to view their character in the game’s inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and in “some of the cut-scenes”, it said.

“Achieving full immersion in an FPP game is extremely important and the decision made by the team to go 100% first person in Cyberpunk is something that will benefit it greatly from gameplay and story-telling perspectives,” CDPR said in a statement sent to VGC.

“That said, players will still be able to see their characters in the inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and, very occasionally, in some of the cut-scenes.”

Previous Cyberpunk 2077 demos hadshown third-person cut-scenes. It’s not yet clear if these particular scenes will make it to the final game or not.

“We just listened to what people wanted, how they thought we could improve… we really expanded that, which I think is really exciting. You can actually make your own character now; you can change your body type, you can pick a voice you like, you can make all kinds of combinations.”
