Certain Affinity has shared more details on its role working on Halo Infinite, and revealed it’s leading development on “something big and new for the franchise”.

The prolific Texas-based support studio, which has collaborated on instalments in theHaloand Call of Duty franchises since 2007, announced earlier this year that it hadtaken on additional Halo Infinite development duties.

Now, the company has shared more details on what this entails, tellingVentureBeatthat its unannounced Infinite project is the largest currently active at the company.

CEO Max Hoberman said: “The biggest thing we’re doing that’s public right now, for more than two years now we’ve been working onHalo Infinitedoing something that–they’re very prescriptive about what we can say.

“But we’re doing something unannounced, and we’re doing lead development on that unannounced thing, from conception and design. It’s something big and new for the franchise. But I can’t say any more about it.

“That’s our single largest project of our three projects currently. We have close to 100 developers working on that.”

In January,Windows Centralsaid it had received hints thatCertain Affinity may be developing a new Halo Infinite game mode, which could be the shooter’s take on battle royale or something else entirely.

The report also backed up claims thatXbox is working on a Monster Hunter-style co-op gamewithCertain Affinity.

Microsoft’s decision to entrust Certain Affinity with additional Halo Infinite development duties is not a surprise given their longstanding relationship and the troubles 343 has faced in releasing new content.
