Cyberpunk 2077 is currently attracting over one million players daily, according to CD Projekt.

“Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning,” reads amessagepublished on the game’s official Twitter account on Wednesday.

“We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game,” it added.

Earlier today Cyberpunk 2077 hit 86,130 concurrent players onSteam, its highest total since January 2021, the month after the game was released.

Therecent spike in playersfollows the launch of the game’s1.6 patch, which added various new features and improvements, and coincides with a half-price discount on Steam.

TheCyberpunk 2077 anime, Edgerunners, also debuted onNetflixlast week and has been receivingvery favourable reviewsfrom critics and the general public.

Responding to the game’s growing player count, Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Paweł Saskosaidthis week: “Thank you so much chooms for this second chance.”

Cyberpunk 2077 was billed as one of the biggest titles of the last console generation, but things went badly wrong for it at release.

In the 15 months since it has continued to deliver title updates designed to improve the experience, and Cyberpunk 2077 was alsoreleased for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in February.

CD Projekt claimed in April thatCyberpunk 2077 had sold over 18 million copies– up from 13 millionreported during the game’s launch month.

Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion, Phantom Liberty, was announced in early September. It will be released for PC,PS5,Xbox Series X/SandStadiain 2023.

CD Projekt said Phantom Liberty is theonly planned expansion for the game, but that itremains “fully committed” to building the Cyberpunk IPbeyond the DLC’s release.

The company also said it had made the “difficult decision” to not develop Phantom Liberty forPS4andXbox One“as the scope for the expansion makes releasing it for previous-gen consoles technologically challenging without compromising player experience”.

Phantom Liberty is billed as “a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077set in an all new district of Night City”.
