Capcom has acquired Swordcanes, a support studio that has previously worked on Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16 and Hi-Fi Rush.
Swordcanes primarily works on CG assets and animation. The company has also previously worked on the Monster Hunter series and assistedBandai Namcoin the character modeling for NewPokemonSnap.
Swordcanes’ website lists the studios’ strengths as 3D character modeling, 3D environment creation, 3D animation, and 2D animation.
“Swordcanes’ strength lies in 3D computer graphics production technology in consumer home video game development, and the studio has carried out work on majorCapcomtitles in the past,” Capcom stated.
“As such, Capcom decided to make the studio its wholly-owned subsidiary to sustainably bolster its developmental and technological capabilities.”
Alongside its announcement, Capcom also claimed it is on track to achieve 11 years of full-year operating profit growth.
“During the three months ended May 12, 2025, Capcom’s core Digital Contents business delivered sales of 13.5 million units for its home video game software, surpassing the 11.7 million units in sales in the same period of the previous year and significantly contributing to the value of the company’s content,” it said.

VGC’s 5-star Street Fighter 6 reviewcalled the game “an incredible fighter dripping with confidence”, adding: “With the three titans of the fighting game space all releasing mainline entries this year, competition is going to be stiff, but Capcom is putting its best foot forward.”
