Call of Duty: Warzone currently supports 120fps on Xbox Series X, but not PlayStation 5.
That’s according to analysis carried out byDigital Foundry, which reveals that developerInfinity Wardquietly added the high framerate feature to theXboxSeries X version of the game this week, despite no mention in the latestpatch notes.
As noted by journalist Wesley Yin-Poole,Warzone’s Microsoft Storelisting has also been updated to advertise its support for 120fps.
However, analysis by the DF suggests that thePlayStation 5version ofWarzoneis running at a maximum of 60fps. When the Warzone app is downloaded from thePlayStationStore, it’s also still listed as aPS4title.
To run PS5 and Xbox Series X games at 120fps, newer televisions featuring HDMI 2.1 is required.
NeitherActivisionnor Infinity Ward have commented on the report.
Earlier this week, Infinity Ward said Warzone’s latest patch had added support for next-gen consoles andshrunk its storage requirement by more than 25GBon all platforms.
According to the game’s production directorPaule Haile, Infinity Ward had decided to separate Warzone’s high resolution textures in order to try and combat the shooter’s ballooning file size, which recently exceeded 200GB.
On consoles, players will now receive reduced resolution textures by default and will need to download the hi-res versions separately via the Installs menu. However, Haile said the textures were only recommended for players onPS4 Pro, PS5,Xbox One XandXbox Series X/S.
PCplayers will also receive reduced resolution textures by default. But unlike consoles, they’ll need to use a new asset streaming system in order to receive the hi-res versions, which will automatically stream textures for operators and weapons as they’re needed.
