Warzone won’t change game engines when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War becomes part of the free-to-play shooter next month.

Activisionannounced last week thatTreyarch’s gamewill be integrated into Warzone this Decemberalongside the launch ofBlack Ops Cold WarSeason 1.

How deep the integration is in practice remains to be seen, as the game will stick with theModern Warfareengine it was built on, an Activision representative has said.

“There will not be an engine shift for WZ,” according to Resetera userShutterMunster, who is verified as an Activision art lead.

Black Ops Cold War will include shared progression withWarzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both games.

Warzone players will also still have access to Modern Warfare content they earned previously, like Operators and weapon blueprints.

Activision said last week that players will be able to choose to use their Black Ops or Modern Warfare loadouts in Warzone.

The publisher also said it plans to reveal more details about Black Ops Cold War’s Warzone integration in the coming weeks.
