Bungie is reportedly working on a new Destiny game for mobile in partnership with Chinese tech and gaming giant NetEase.
The Game Postclaims to have spotted “an unannounced FPS mobile game” developed in cooperation withBungielisted on the LinkedIn profile of aNetEaseGames artist.
And citing a source said to be familiar with NetEase’s development plans, the site claims the studio has been working on a newDestinygame for well over two years.
It’s also suggested that the game is a new title rather than a mobile version of Destiny 2.
NetEase invested $100 million to become a minority shareholder in Bungie in 2018. At the time, the Destiny studiosaidthe deal would help it “explore new directions” and “build new worlds”.
Bungie CEO Pete Parsons also toldGamesIndustry.bizthat the deal was a signal of Bungie’s ambition to become a global game and entertainment company.
“We want to be able to build games that are inspiring people from around the world, and this partnership in part will allow us to do that, to begin that incubation and development process in a real way,” he said.
Sonyannounced in January that it intends toacquire Bungie in a deal worth $3.6 billion.

Speaking in May,Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida saidthe company’s planned acquisition of Bungie was partly motivated by a desire forPlayStationto become more of a multiplatform business.
“We believe it will be a catalyst to enhance ourlive game services capabilities,” he said. “Our acquisition of Bungie also represents a major step forward in becoming more multiplatform.”
In addition to its ongoing work on Destiny 2, Bungie previously announcedplans to bring at least one new IP to market before 2025.
