Members of the development team behind the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 have reportedly been inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2.
“[Something] I did hear that a lot of people were playing wasRed Dead Redemption 2.” Zelda producerEiji Aonumatold IGNwhen asked which games younger members of the development team were inspired by.

Asked about the wider team, he added: “When I was working on Breath of the Wild, the director [Hidemaro Fujibayashi] was playing Skyrim.”
Nintendoannounced on Tuesday that asequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis currently in development forSwitch.

A trailer was shown during itsNintendo Direct E3 presentation, although no further details were announced.
Switch launch titleThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time and is viewed by some as the highpoint in the celebrated series, which debuted in 1986.

Released in March 2017, it hadsold almost 12.8 million copiesas of March 2019, making it Switch’s fourth bestselling game behind Mario Kart 8 (16.69 million),Super Mario Odyssey(14.44 million) andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate(13.81 million).
It was also announced this week that The Legend ofZelda: Link’s Awakening will be released on June 11, 2025.
