Baldur’s Gate 3 was the big winner at the 24th annual Game Developers Choice Awards.
Larian’s game, which is based on the tabletop fantasy RPG system of Dungeons & Dragons, took home the Game of the Year prize.

It also won Best Narrative, Best Design and the Audience Award at the ceremony, which took place as part ofGDC2024 at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center.
Nintendo’sThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwon the Innovation and Best Technology Awards, while Visai Games’ narrative cooking game Venba also received two prizes, the Best Debut and Social Impact Awards.

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to Japanese composer and pianist Yoko Shimomura, who hascreated music for games including Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts,Street Fighter2 and Final Fantasy XV.
The Ambassador Award, which is presented to individuals who have helped advance the medium, was presented to Fawzi Mesmar. Currently serving as VP, global creative atUbisoft, he’s had a hand in developing franchises including Battlefield, Candy Crush, Mario + Rabbids and Persona.
