Following Baldur’s Gate 3’scritically acclaimed PC release last month, Larian Studios appears to have repeated the trick on PS5.
The console version launched today asPS5‘s highest-rated game to date, according to aggregation sitesMetacriticandOpenCritic, with the caveat that only a relatively small number of reviews have been published so far.
The PS5 release has a Metascore of 97 based on nine reviews, putting it ahead ofElden Ring(96 based on 85 reviews) andThe Witcher 3: Wil Hunt Complete Edition (94 based on 32 reviews).
Those early reviews also make it Metacritic’s top-rated game of the year so far, ahead of thePCversion ofBaldur’s Gate 3(96 based on 92 reviews) andThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom(96 based on 146 reviews).
Baldur’s Gate 3 currently tops OpenCritic’s list of highest-rated PS5 games too, with a score of 96, ahead of Elden Ring (95) andGod of War Ragnarök(94).
The PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was made available on September 2 for Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition players, ahead of its general release today.
Larianreleased the game’s latest hotfix on Monday, which included several fixes for just PS5 players.
