Astro Bot is the highest-rated standalone game of 2024 so far, according to Metacritic.
At the time of writing, the game currently holds aMetacritic score of 94,based on 100 critic reviews. This makesAstro Botthe year’s highest-rated standalone game.

It doesn’t betterElden Ring‘s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, however, whichcurrently holds a 95 score.
Below Astro Bot, fellowPlayStation 5exclusiveFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth holds a score of 92on the aggregation platform, followed byAnimal Well at 91andBalatro at 90.

VGC’s reviewof Astro Bot called it “The best 3D platformer of the decade.”

The PS5 platformer will be released this week, on Friday, September 6, after more than three years of development.
Astro Bot’s DLC plan will include new challenge levels and aspeedrun mode, the developer confirmed to VGC.
