An issue with the PlayStation Network caused PlayStation 4 trophies to temporarily disappear overnight, with their titles appearing as PS3 games instead.
Trophy lists on both consoles and thePlayStationmobile app were only showingPlayStation 5titles properly.
AllPlayStation 4titles were showing as 0% completion, with no titles shown and only a PS3 logo where the PS4 one should be.
This led to speculation on social media that the issue could be part of an upcoming backwards compatibility update for the PS5.
Instead, the issue was soon resolved and now all trophy lists are appearing normally again.
The incident was the latest to spark discussion over the possibility of PS3 games appearing on the PS5 at some point in the future.

When viewing a PS3 game on the PS5 store, the listing should direct the player towards the PlayStation Now version of the game, however, Dead Or Alive 5 displayed a price. Other users on social media reported seeing similar listings for PS3’s Bejeweled and Prince of Persia games The Forgotten Sands and The Two Thrones.

The listings appeared following the discovery ofa patent, filed by PS5 system architectMark Cernytitled, “backward compatibility through the use of spoof clock and fine grain frequency control”.
This naturally led many to speculate that Sony had finally developed a solution for older titles and could soon expand PS5’s backwards compatibility support, although this has not been confirmed.
It also arrives following aBloombergreport from December, which claimed thatan Xbox Game Pass competitor service is being prepared by PlayStation.
According to documents seen by the publication, the new service is codenamed ‘Spartacus’ and will combine the current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services, phasing out the branding of the latter. It’s expected to launch for PS4 and PS5 this spring and to be structured across three payment tiers.
