Remedy’s just-announced Alan Wake remaster is reportedly a precursor to a full sequel set to be published by Epic Games.

That’s according to GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who reiterated comments hemade previouslyclaiming that a full sequel has been greenlit at the Finnish studio.

Possibly adding further credence to the claim isa statement made regarding Remedy’s Epic dealin March 2020, which stated that the two games in its publishing deal would be a “AAA multi-platform game” and a second “smaller-scale” project set in the same franchise.

Epic confirmed this weekit’s publishing Alan Wake Remastered.

Grubb said during aGiant Bomb stream(paywall): “They’re planning an Alan Wake sequel. This is something I’ve talked about before… they are working withEpic Gameson producing anAlan Wake 2, or at least it’s in the planning stages. So does that turn into anything concrete and real? I’m hopeful. I think so. I don’t imagine it will get derailed.

He added: “Remedyis really busy. They’re super, super busy, so we’ll have to wait and see if that turns into anything soon or not. But yeah,Alan Wake Remasteredis them taking back Alan Wake and saying, ‘hey, this is one of our key franchises, we want people to remember it’”.

Alan Wake is an action-adventure game released forXbox 360andPCin 2010. It follows a best-selling thriller novelist as he tried to uncover the mystery behind his wife’s disappearance, all while experiencing events from his latest book which he cannot remember writing.

Remedy acquired the Alan Wake publishing rightsfrom original publisherMicrosoftin July 2019, having already owned the IP rights.
