Alan Wake 2 won’t be shown this summer, developer Remedy has confirmed.
The sequel, which was announced last year, won’t appear at any of the upcoming summer gaming events. However, in a new video celebrating the 12 anniversary of Alan Wake,RemedyCreative DirectorSam Lakehas reassured fans that the sequel is going well.
The developer also released new concept art for the sequel, which you can see below.
“Everything withAlan Wake 2development is going really well. We are deep in production, have a lot of material, and a great deal of the game is playable,” said Lake.
“But we’ve been talking for the past couple of months and have come to the decision here at Remedy, along with our wonderful publisherEpic Games, that we will not be showing anything big this summer.
“To create a proper, polished demo or a trailer takes a lot of effort, and it’s several months of work that could take away from development,” he continued.
“We feel that we have momentum going, and we want to verify we are creating the best, and first, survival horror game for Remedy. We don’t want to take the team away from that focus, so we’re going to keep going and making a great game experience, and unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for a demo and trailer.”
Alan Wake 2is slated for a 2023 release and is being published by Epic Games.
As part of the team’s update, Remedy also shared some new concept art for the game. It also confirmed thatAlan Wake Remasteredwould arrive onNintendo Switch later this year.
Alan Wake 2 wasannounced during The Game Awards last year. The reveal trailer showed off Alan in various locations including the wilderness, and New York City.
Sam Lake, speaking on the game said it will be a “survival horror”. However, Lake did admit the game would “go dark” for some time before new information is revealed.
