A trial for The Last of Us Part 1 is now available to download for PlayStation Plus Premium members.
Players can now play through the first two hours of thePS5remake.

Premium is the top tier ofPlayStationPlus, giving players access to time-limited game trials, cloud streaming and a catalogue of classic PS1,PS2,PSPand (streaming only)PS3games.
The addition of the Last of Us Part 1 trial appears to have been designed to concide with the recently broadcast first episode of the HBO TV adaptation of The Last of Us, of which Episode 1 aired on Sunday nightto general critical acclaim.

The Last of Us Part 1was billed as a faithful reproduction of the original game – which was released for PS3 in 2013 and remastered forPS4the following year – featuring modernised gameplay and controls.
It also offers expanded accessibility options including audio descriptions for cinematics and haptic feedback for dialogue.

VGC’sThe Last of Us Part 1 reviewcalled the PS5 release “the definitive version of one of the best games ever”.
“Not everyone needs to buy that UHD Bluray,” we wrote. “But there are some people that want that. And in this case, it not only makes the entire experience look generationally better than its last iteration, but it also makes an already stellar story, and unmatched performances even better.”

Sonyrecently confirmed that thePC version of The Last of Us Part 1will be released on June 22, 2025, viaSteamand theEpic Games Store.

Last month the HBO show’s co-creator and co-writer Craig Mazin made headlines when he claimed that The Last of Us is “the greatest story that has ever been told in video games”, declaring it “an open-and-shut case”.
Mazin went on to explain that, in his opinion, one of the reasons for this is that its protagonists are just normal people rather than larger-than-life characters.

“They didn’t shoot anything out of their eyeballs,” he explained. “They were just people. And that, in and of itself, is remarkably rare in games.
“The fact that they kept it so grounded, and really made you feel – I had never experienced anything like it, and I’ve been playing video games since 1977.”
