Nintendo has announced a Switch OLED Mario Red Edition console.
Confirming an earlier leak, the console was officially revealed during aNintendo Direct live streamon Thursday.
It will launch on October 6, two weeks beforeSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, with a suggested retail price of $349.99.

The system, its two Joy-Con controllers and theSwitchdock all sport the Mario red colour. A silhouette design of Mario jumping is included on the back of the dock, which also features some ‘hidden’ coins.
Today’s 15-minuteNintendo Directpresentation provided an in-depth look at Super Mario Bros. Wonder ahead of the Switch exclusive’s release on October 20.

Announced in June, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first original 2D Mario side-scrolling game in over a decade. Its new gimmick is the Wonder Flower, which transforms each stage in a different way.

During its latest quarterly financial results briefing this month, Nintendo saidSwitch’s global lifetime salesstood at 129.53 million by the mid-point of 2023.
Driven by the release ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo shipped 3.91 million Switch units during the three-month period ended in June, which was up 13.9% year-over-year.

Nintendo forecasts it will sell 15 Switch million consoles during the current fiscal year ending on June 12, 2025, which would represent a 16.5% year-over-year decline.
According to VGC sources, the company has dispatchedSwitch 2 development kitsto key partners, with a launch planned for the second half of 2024. Officially, Nintendo is yet to comment on plans for its next console.
