CD Projekt has reportedly confirmed plans to release a Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year edition in 2023.
President and joint CEOAdam Kicińskirevealed plans for the new edition of the game during a presentation at the WSE Innovation Day, according to Polish siteStockwatch.
It will be released in 2023, shortly after the launch ofCyberpunk 2077’sfirst and only expansion, Phantom Liberty.
“This is the natural order of things,” Kiciński said. “It was the same with The Witcher, which after both add-ons was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market in this way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”
Phantom Liberty is billed as “a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077set in an all new district of Night City”.
Set for release onPC,PS5andXbox Series X/S, it will feature the return of Johnny Silverhand, the character played by Keanu Reeves, alongside a new cast of characters.
Phantom Liberty was announced in September, whenCD Projektalso confirmed it had made the “difficult decision” not to develop it forPS4andXbox One“as the scope for the expansion makes releasing it for previous-gen consoles technologically challenging without compromising player experience”.
Strong Cyberpunk 2077 sales droverecord third quarter financial results for CD Projekt, the company said last week.
