A Crash Bandicoot 4 demo will be released next week for PlayStation 4 players who pre-order the game digitally.
Launching on September 16, the demo will feature two levels from the middle of the game: Snow Way Out and Dino Dash.
Players will also get to play an “alternate timeline path”—which is akin to the secret levels in previous Crash games—of Snow Way Out from the perspective of Dr. Neo Cortex.
PublisherActivisionconfirmed in June that the Toys For Bob-developed game will be released on October 2 forPS4andXbox One.
To coincide with today’s demo announcement, Toys For Bob released new Crash 4 gameplay focused on Tawna, who was Crash’s girlfriend in the first game of the trilogy.
While she was originally “the damsel in distress archetype”, Toys For Bob art director Josh Nadelberg told thePlayStation BlogTawna is “a fully fleshed out” and playable character in the upcoming sequel.
“Each of the three new playable characters in Crash 4 has a unique way to move about and interact with the world,” he said. “Dingodile uses his vacuum to give himself an extra floaty jump, Neo Cortex has a speedy forward dash move, and Tawna is no exception.
“Equipped with a versatile hook-shot ability that allows her to quickly traverse levels and attack enemies and break crates from afar, Tawna feels as powerful and exciting as she looks. She also has a devastating ground-pound attack, spin kicks, and can reach new heights with her acrobatic wall jump.
“Playing as Tawna feels fast, fluid, and fresh, while still retaining the precision and intensity that makes Crash Bandicoot such a unique platforming experience,“ Nadelberg added.
2017’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a remastered compilation of the first three Crash games developed byVicarious Visions(Toys for Bobhandled theSwitchport),has sold over 10 million copiesaccording to Activision.
