Ubisoft has confirmed plans to lay off 185 employees in Europe as a result of wider restructuring efforts. The move will see the company closeUbisoftLeamington, which is based in Leamington Spa, England, and make cuts at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Stockholm and Ubisoft Reflections. Ubisoft Leamington was previously known as FreeStyleGames – the studio behind the DJ Hero series – before it was acquired by Ubisoft fromActivisionin 2017. It has since worked mainly as a support studio on games such asFar Cry5, Avatar, andStar Wars Outlaws....

The first footage of Call of Duty’s Doom-themed shotgun and chainsaw bundle has emerged online following the launch of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Season 6. Nintendo has announced that Wave 2 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC tracks will appear next week. The next eight Booster Course Pass tracks will be available from August 4, the company has confirmed. Xbox head Phil Spencer has suggested success as a platform holder is measured by software and service sales rather than console purchases. Microsoft has confirmed plans to bring Xbox cloud gaming to internet-connected TVs in a move that will let players access services like Game Pass with no extra hardware required except a controller. The company is currently working with global TV manufacturers to embed theXboxexperience directly into internet-connected TVs, it told press this week. And it’s also building its own streaming devices to bring cloud gaming to any TV or monitor without the need for a console....

Peripheral maker 8BitDo is releasing an officially licensed Xbox-themed keyboard. The company previously released its Retro Keyboard in NES and Famicom colours. It then followed this up with a special C64 Edition, based on the keyboard from the Commodore 64 home computer. Now it’s announced that in January it will be releasing an officially licensedXboxversion, with a colour scheme based on the original Xbox console from 2001. “Inspired by the iconic Transparent Green Edition of the original Xbox console, this keyboard features customizable RGB backlighting, an integrated Xbox button, and programmable Super Buttons,” 8BitDo says....

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that an anime based on Death Stranding is currently in production. In an interview withVogue Japan, Kojima discussed his vision for theDeath Strandingseries and how he feels the boundaries between movies and games in general will disappear in the future. While discussing the upcoming live-action Death Stranding movie, Kojima said he wanted to make a version of the Death Stranding story that’s only possible in cinema, and that it should be accomplished enough to win respected film awards, before briefly revealing that an anime is also being worked on as a separate project....

Ubisoft has detailed a major Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update scheduled for release on Tuesday. The game’s1.5.0 updateintroduces a large number of fixes (listed below), including one for a bug that was making it impossible to complete the A Brewing Storm quest. Weighing in at 9-16 GB depending on the platform, the patch also includes difficulty tuning and stealth updates, and paves the way for the release of the game’s Dawn of Ragnarök expansion on March 10....

Amazon Games and UK-based Glowmade – a studio formed by ex-Lionhead Studios developers – have announced King of Meat. Revealed duringGamescomOpening Night Live, King of Meat is described as “a hacking, slashing online co-op spectacle” for one through four players, stepping into the role of “fearless contenders battling through ridiculous dungeons”.
