In recent years the company has opted to showcase its games through its own digital events, rather than host conferences or have a significant physical presence at major industry conventions like the expo in Cologne, which comes at a considerable expense. Sonymost recently appeared atGamescomin 2019, which was the last in-person edition of the show before the Covid-19 pandemic. And thePlayStationfirm has reportedly told German industry publicationGamesMarktthat it has no plans to exhibit at Gamescom this summer....

Shift Up’s PlayStation-published action game, Stellar Blade, is coming to PC next month with additional content. That’s according to a trailer for thePCversion that was reportedly published early, and archived by social media users. According to the leaked trailer,Stellar Bladewill release for PC on June 11 and include 25 new costumes, a new boss battle, support for DLSS and FSR, higher resolution textures, ultrawide support, and more. The first gameplay trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City has been published, revealing that it will star Peter Weller. Weller played RoboCop in the original movie as well as its sequel RoboCop 2, before other actors took over the role. Rogue City publisherNaconhas now confirmed that Weller will return to reprise the role that made him a star in the 1980s. This doesn’t mark the first time that Weller has returned to play RoboCop in a video game....

Sega has announced an August 29 release date for Samba de Amigo: Party Central. The publisher has opened pre-orders for the game, which comes in two forms: the standard digital edition is priced at $39.99 / £35.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $49.99 / £44.99. The latter comes with a Sonic the Hedgehog music DLC pack including ‘Open Your Heart’, ‘Reach for the Stars’ and ‘I’m Here’, as well as Sonic and Tails costumes....

In the tech site’s latest DF Direct Weekly video (below), technology editor Richard Leadbetter seemingly referencesPSVR 2 details leaked in May, before claiming to have seen even more impressive specs forSony’s upcoming headset. “One thing I think that is kind of heartening is that Sony is doing PSVR 2 for thePlayStation 5,”he said....

PlayStationPlus Premium also offers a selection of PS1,PS2andPSPgames to download, andPS3games via cloud streaming. September’s additions to the Classics Catalogue are Star Ocean First Departure R, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Star Ocean: The Last Hope – 4K & FHD Remaster, and Dragon’s Crown Pro....

Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki’s next game has been revealed to be an Apple Arcade release called Air Twister. Announced on Tuesday, Air Twister is a fantasy 3D shooting game developed by YS Net, the studio responsible for 2019’sShenmue 3. The debut trailer for the game, which is set for release onApple’s gaming subscription service on June 24, can be viewed below. “Soar through the sky in this all-new fantasy endless shooter from legendary game creatorYu Suzuki,”readsthe game’s App Store description....

Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka has told fans not to expect remakes of classic entries in the Sonic Adventure series anytime soon. Sonic Adventure (1998) and its sequel (2001) remain two of theSegamascot’s most beloved 3D adventures and introduced open-world elements to the series for the first time. Speaking in a recent interview withShack News, Iizuka, who directed both Dreamcast Sonic Adventure games, was asked about the possibility of bringing the series back as remakes or remasters, but said that he’d rather put the energy required into making entirely new titles....

Nearly 30% of monthly active users on PlayStation 5 never used a PlayStation 4, Sony claims. The claim was shared as part of a company presentation discussing its Q3 2022 results for this financial year (the period ending December 2022), in whichSonynoted that the percentage of monthly active users increased by around 30% in December. “In addition,” it said, “nearly 30% ofPS5‘s [monthly active users] are users who never usedPS4, so, with the spread of PS5, the acquisition of new users is progressing”....

The Nintendo Switch Lite has the same analog stick design as the original Switch model, a hardware teardown has suggested. According to YouTube channelSpawn Wave, although the sticks present in the Switch Lite feature different part numbers from the original Switch, they otherwise appear to be identical in design. Spawn Wave host Jonathan Downey speculated thatNintendocould have used different materials to improve the sticks, but there isn’t any evidence to suggest this....
