PlayStation 5 has broken the record for the UK’s biggest ever console launch, VGC understands. According to publishing sources speaking to VGC, launch sales for Sony’s console far exceeded the UK’s previous record holder, 2013’sPlayStation 4, which sold some 250,000 units in its first 48 hours. It means PS5 significantly outsold the launch ofXboxSeries X and S in the region, whichVGC previously reportedhad sold around 155,000 units on their first day....

The game’s developer GSC Game World has announced that it’s teaming up with NFT trading platform DMarket to use blockchain technology that it claims will “let the community own a piece ofStalker 2“. Acclaimed British indie studio The Chinese Room has regained its independence from its former parent company, Sumo Digital. The Epic Games Store is launching a new achievement system next week. TitledEpicAchievements, it will initially support a handful of titles but is expected to be rolled out to all developers “in the coming months”. At launch, players will be able to collect XP by earning Epic Achievements in games includingRocket League, Hades, Pillars of Eternity,Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Zombie Army 4 andAlan Wake Remastered. “Epic Achievements are sorted into four tiers based on their XP value, with thePlatinumAchievement being awarded upon earning 1000 XP in a game,”Epic explained....

Square Enix has confirmed that the original code for Final Fantasy Tactics has been lost, and that the new remake of the game, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, has therefore been rebuilt from scratch. The remake is being directed byKazutoyo Maehiro, who served as an events planner on the original game. In a newinterview, Maehiro has revealed that the game’s original source code is no longer available, due to the then-common practice of overwriting development materials and the limited preservation elements....

The PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has been sitting fully developed for more than half a year, it’s claimed. Dealabs user Billbil-kun, who has a long track record of reliably leaking game announcements and other information, says they believe the game has been finshed for some time. According to the insider’s sources, development on thePCversion started at least as far back as 2021. “What’s more, and this is the most important piece of information in this article, we believe that the game’s development is well and truly complete, dating back to at least November 2023,” they added....
